HCOBO helps navigate local government contracting for minority & women businesses

Located in Jersey City, the Hudson County Office of Business Opportunity is a one-stop shop designed to help minority-, veteran- and female-owned companies as well as small businesses become certified so they can qualify to provide services to county and local government.

Since opening its doors in January 2017, county employees have assisted over 150 business owners in navigating the complex process of certification as well as providing other services.

Jersey City resident Mary Olson, who owns Mary Olson/Brand Intelligence, is among those companies.

The office helped Olson get her company certified as female-owned. The business provides communication, branding, marketing, media and technology services to clients, including the Hudson County Office of Business Opportunity, a contract she received after certification.
