Hit & Run: 3 People Seriously Injured In Weehawken Crash On Friday Night

A motor vehicle crash in Weehawken left three people with serious injuries on Friday night.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Weehawken Police Department are investigating the motor vehicle crash.

According to Suarez, the scenario unfolded as follows:

“At approximately 9:50 p.m., the Weehawken Police Department was notified of a collision in the area of Avenue at Port Imperial and Port Imperial Boulevard. Responding officers located a Honda CRV that had been struck by a Ford F350. After striking the Honda, the driver of the Ford fled the scene, striking two pedestrians, a 78-year-old North Bergen female and a 70-year-old female from Florida. After striking the pedestrians, the driver exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. The two pedestrians and a passenger of the Honda, an 80-year-old North Bergen female, were seriously injured and transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment. Four other occupants of the Honda suffered minor injuries.”

The Weehawken Police Department has identified the driver of the Ford as 25-year old, Luis Tubac-Socoy of Passaic.  He was arrested by the Weehawken Police Department and charged with three counts of assault by auto; two counts of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision resulting in serious bodily injury; one count of aggravated assault and issued multiple motor vehicle summonses.

Suarez says the case ewmains under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Weehawken Police Department.  The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
