The City of Hoboken welcomed four new firefighters to its Department during a swearing in ceremony held on Thursday afternoon at City Hall.
Mayor Ravi Bhalla, Public Safety Directory Ken Ferrante, and Fire Chief Anton Peskens joined family, fellow firefighters, and community members to honor Kurtis Rivera, Christian Rosso, David Walker, and Christopher Willis, as they took the oath of office.

Each of the new firefighters was sworn in by City Clerk Jimmy Farina.
“These four new firefighters are a shining example of what makes Hoboken so special,” said Mayor Bhalla. “They are making a brave commitment to protect their own families, neighbors, and friends, showing us, what true heroism looks like.”
Public Safety Director Ferrante added, “I’m always inspired when residents step up to serve their city, in any capacity, but especially as first responders. There is not a doubt in my mind that these four firefighters will make their families proud, leave a mark on the Fire Department, and make a real difference in the community.”

Also in attendance at the ceremony were Hudson County Commission Chairman Anthony Romano, along with Council members Ruben Ramos, Jr. and Emily Jabbour, both candidates for Mayor in the upcoming November election.
“I’m incredibly proud to welcome these men into the Hoboken Fire Department, as they begin their careers,” said Chief Peskens. “I’m confident they will meet all the challenges that come with this job with courage and heart. I look forward to watching them learn, grow, and become leaders within this family of firefighters.”
The newest recruits graduated from the Toms River Fire Academy last week and will begin in-service training immediately. The swearing-in strengthens the Department’s ranks to 129 members who respond to over 5,000 calls a year.
