Hoboken Construction Updates

HOBOKEN, NJ – The City of Hoboken has announced a series of potential road closures and construction activities scheduled for this week, impacting various locations across the city.

Immediate Road Closures:
Today, residents can anticipate road closures at the following intersections:

  • 8th & Castle Point
  • 3rd & Park
  • 8th & Grand

Partial Road Closures:
Residents should also be aware of possible partial closures at:

  • 200 11th
  • 14th & Jefferson
  • 10th & Madison
  • 413 Monroe

Jackson Street Park – Wall Improvements:
A significant renovation is underway at Jackson Street Park. Results from sound tests conducted on August 8 highlighted multiple problem areas on the façade and interior wall. The construction will involve brick replacements, masonry wall repairs, and site clean-up. Traffic detours are not expected, but parking restrictions are in place on Jackson Street adjacent to the park. The park remains closed until the project completion.

Water Infrastructure Upgrades – Phase II:
The Hoboken Water Utility will be upgrading water mains across various streets. Work activities this week focus on Grand Street and its intersections. Notably, a water shutdown will occur on Monday, August 14, impacting specific sections of Grand and 7th Streets. Traffic detours are anticipated, with Hoboken Police assisting with traffic flow.

Park Avenue & Castle Point Terrace Water Main Replacements:
Both locations are undergoing water main replacements with traffic detours expected. Residents should particularly note parking restrictions on Park Avenue and Castle Point Terrace during construction hours.

ResilienCity Park Construction:
Northwest Resiliency Park’s construction continues, marking it as New Jersey’s largest resiliency park. It aims to house infrastructure capable of holding up to 2 million gallons of rainwater, mitigating local flooding.

Veolia Routine Water Infrastructure Maintenance:

Citi Bike Docking Stations:
Hoboken celebrates the installation of its 30th Citi Bike docking station on August 17. This addition aligns with the city’s efforts to enhance the Citi Bike service around the Hoboken Terminal.

In collaboration with Volta, Hoboken is gearing up to expand its EV Charging Stations throughout the city. The initiative seeks to ensure residents are never more than a 5-minute walk away from a public charging station by 2030.
