Hoboken’s 2nd Ward Council candidate Patricia Waiters has announced she is withdrawing from the Council race to concentrate on winning a Board of Education trustee seat in the upcoming November election, where she is also on the ballot.

Waiters told Hudson TV reporter Jeff Henig she is encouraging Ward 2 residents to cast their Council vote for one of her two opponents, incumbent Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher or Marla Decker.

Waiters’ name will still appear on the 2nd Ward Council ballot.

In New Jersey a person cannot hold more than one elected position at any time, unless they are grandfathered in, meaning they already hold more than one position, such as Brian Stack and Nicholas Sacco in Hudson County, who are both Mayors and State Senators.
