Hoboken man attacked after drug deal goes sideways – 7 arrested on robbery, aggravated assault, gun charges

A vicious assault Wednesday in the Mile Square City by seven young men over a drug deal gone bad left another man with a fractured jaw, fractured orbital socket and other injuries.

Detectives from the Hoboken Police Investigation Bureau investigated a robbery that happened in the Hoboken Housing Authority earlier in the afternoon.

The victim left the area injured and was found a short distance away. He was immediately taken to Hoboken University Medical Center, where he was able to provide a description of his attackers, and later transferred to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson for surgery.

The victim’s cell phone, sneakers and cash were all taken.

Members of the Investigation Bureau canvassed the area for possible leads and spoke with several residents who may have witnessed something.

According to Chief Kenneth Ferrante, after working tirelessly to solve this case — Thursday afternoon the detectives were able to determine who took part in the robbery and assault of the victim.

Officers from the Uniform Bureau joined members of the Investigation Bureau to search the Hoboken Housing area for the defendants.

Seven suspects in all were arrested.

William Agosto, Frank Henderson and Angelo Roldan were taken in without incident.

Taquana Dixon was also charged for possession of a small quantity of marijuana consistent with personal use.

Julian Braxton and Joseph Crandell were each in possession of a larger amount of marijuana and charged with distribution related offenses.

Luis Williams was additionally charged with possession of a handgun while committing distribution offenses, in the amount of more than 90 grams of pot.

The following defendants were remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility:

ARRESTEE #1: LUIS WILLIAMS l AGE 21, JERSEY CITY

Charges: robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana in a school zone, possession of marijuana within 500 feet public housing, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, possession of a weapon while committing CDS offense, unlawful possession of a weapon.

ARRESTEE #2: JULIAN BRAXTON L AGE 22, HOBOKEN

Charges: robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 500 feet public housing, possession of marijuana within 1000 feet of school, possession of CDS paraphernalia.

ARRESTEE #3: WILLIAM AGOSTO l AGE 25, HOBOKEN
Charges: robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery.

ARRESTEE #4: JOSEPH CRANDELL l AGE 24, HOBOKEN was later released with summonses to appear in court.
Charges: aggravated assault, possession of marijuana over one ounce, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 500 feet of public housing, possession of marijuana within 1000 feet school zone, possession of CDS paraphernalia.

ARRESTEE #5: TAQUANA DIXON l AGE 24, HOBOKEN

Charges: aggravated assault, possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of CDS paraphernalia.

ARRESTEE #6: FRANK HENDERSON l AGE 21, HOBOKEN 

Charges: aggravated assault.

ARRESTEE #7: ANGELO ROLDAN l AGE 18, HOBOKEN
Charges: aggravated assault
