Hoboken Police Department Arrest March 31st 2018

Arrestee: William Lafontaine Age 27 Totowa NJ

Charges: Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, Bail Jumping

Officers involved: PO Harold Milne, PO Anthony Rutkowski

Arrest Date and time: March 31st, 2018 12:57am

Incident Details: While patrolling the area of Hudson Place and River Street the officers were dispatched to the area of 79 Hudson Street on a report of a fight. Officers were met by a large group of about 6-8 people fighting. Officer Rutkowski observed defendant LaFontaine attempting to strike an unknown male with his fist. Lafontaine ignored the officer’s commands to stop. As Officer Rutkowski attempted to place him under arrest, Lafontaine pushed him away and began to walk away. Several other officers arrived to assist and were able to place him under arrest and secure him. All other parties left the area. He was transported to headquarters for processing. He was also found to have an outstanding warrant and charged accordingly. A warrant complaint was prepared and he was later remanded to the Hudson County Rehabilitation Center.

Arrestee: Gustavo Diaz Age 22 Totowa NJ

Charges: Resisting Arrest, Disarming a Law enforcement Officer, Aggravated Assault, Obstructing

Officers Involved: Jason Montalvo, PO Sam Williams, Det. William Collins

Arrest date and time: March 31st, 2018 12:49 am

Incident Details: Officers were dispatched to 16 Hudson Place on a report of a dispute. As Officer Montalvo was walking to the scene, the defendant, who was walking the opposite way, extended his leg and tripped Officer Montalvo. Det. Collins who observed this act, attempted to place the defendant under arrest. The defendant resisted by refusing to comply with their orders and holding his arms close to his body not allowing them to handcuff him. The defendant than grabbed the baton from Officer Williams, who was assisting with the arrest and attempted to pull it from him. After a struggle, the officers were able to place him under arrest and transport him to headquarters for processing. A warrant complaint was generated and he was remanded to the Hudson County Rehabilitation Center.

Arrestee: Jamila Bank Age 24 Alexandria VA

Charges: Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving, Driving While intoxicated in School Zone

Arrestee#2: Janelle Green Age 23 Newark NJ

Charges: Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Intoxicated in School zone, Reckless Driving.

Officers Involved: PO Brandon Fitzgibbons, PO Michael Aviles

Arrest Date and time: March 31st, 2018 3:47am

Incident Details: Officer Fitzgibbons and PO Michael Aviles were dispatched to the area of 160 2nd Street on a report of a vehicle striking several parked vehicles. In total, about four vehicles were struck. The officers located the striking vehicle and found two females to be inside, driver Janelle Green and the passenger Jamila Banks. Both appeared to be highly intoxicated and the officers could smell the strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the inside of the vehicle. After speaking further, it was determined that the females had switched positions after the initial accident. They then struck two other vehicles after the switch. Both females were administered on scene Field Sobriety Test which they failed. They were both placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing. At headquarters they both provided breath samples and were both found to be above the legal limit. They received several motor vehicle summonses for the above offenses and later released to a responsible party.
