A police promotion ceremony was held on Tuesday in the DeBaun Performing Arts Center on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken.  Ten officers received promotions.

The promotions were as follows:
  • Lt. David Olivera was promoted to the rank of Captain.
  • Sgt. Christopher LaBruno and Sgt. Saverio Binetti were promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.
  • Detective Michael Losurdo, Police Officer Harold Milne, Detective Christine Collins, Police Officer Anthony Fesken, Detective Anthony Caruso, Detective John Quinones, and Police Officer Daniel Grossi were promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Fifteen recently sworn-in officers are currently assigned to field training, and six new hires are currently at the Police Academy to help fill the positions vacated by those promoted yesterday.  The Hoboken Police Department looks forward to hiring another class of officers who will enter the academy early next year.

Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla stated, “Today, we celebrate the achievements of these HPD officers whose dedication to the safety of our City has been unwavering, and inspiring.  I look forward to their continued contributions and growing leadership in these new positions.”
Public Safety Ken Ferrante, a former Chief of Police, added, “Watching these officers rise up the ranks, makes me confident of their continued commitment to public safety and their community.  All of these promotions are well earned, and I can’t wait to see what comes next for each and every one of them.”
Current Hoboken Police Chief Steven Aguiar stated, “This ceremony is a celebration of the hard work and leadership of the ten promoted today, and the entire Hoboken police force.  I am proud of all ten of these men and women, and I have no doubt they will all excel in these new roles, as they continue to serve the City with bravery, integrity, and professionalism.”
