Hoboken Announces Road Closures for Upcoming Events

HOBOKEN- Residents and visitors to Hoboken should be prepared for several road closures in the coming days due to the 2023 Hoboken Italian Festival and the Hoboken Business Alliance’s “First Street Sundays.”

Hoboken Italian Festival Road Closures: The annual Hoboken Italian Festival is set to take place from today, Thursday, Sept. 7, to Sunday, Sept. 10, on Sinatra Drive. As a result, Sinatra Drive will be entirely closed to traffic between Newark and Fourth Streets throughout the duration of the festival.

In addition to the festival’s regular activities, a special procession will weave its way through the streets of Hoboken on Saturday, starting at 12 p.m. This procession is expected to cause intermittent road closures, so travelers are advised to plan their routes accordingly.

Furthermore, festival-goers can look forward to a spectacular firework display along the Hudson River at Pier A Park, scheduled for 9 p.m. on Saturday.

To ensure the safety and smooth flow of the event, Temporary No Parking signs have been erected in the vicinity. The Hoboken Police Department will be actively assisting with detours and ensuring that festival hours are adhered to. However, those concerned about parking should note that local parking garages will remain accessible.

First Street Sundays Road Closures: Starting Sunday, Sept. 10, First Street will experience weekly closures between Washington and Garden Streets. These closures will occur every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., lasting until Oct. 22. This initiative is part of the Hoboken Business Alliance’s “First Street Sundays” event.

The Hoboken Police Department will be present to assist with traffic control during these closures. All drivers are urged to respect and abide by the posted signage to ensure the safety of all participants and smooth traffic flow.

Both events are expected to draw significant crowds, and as such, residents and visitors are encouraged to be aware of these changes and make necessary travel arrangements. The city appreciates everyone’s cooperation and looks forward to successful events.
