JERSEY CITY, NJ — Hudson County Executive Craig Guy has issued a statement regarding Coach USA’s recent announcement to terminate contracts with NJ Transit and cease operations for Hudson County bus routes 2, 84, and 88 following a Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection filing.

In his statement, Guy expressed his commitment to ensuring that Hudson County remains affordable for all residents and emphasized the importance of access to affordable, safe transit options. He stated, “As County Executive, I am very committed to ensuring that Hudson County remains affordable for all our residents; and a key part to this is access to affordable, safe transit options.”

Guy also announced that he is in active communication with NJ Transit officials and staff to ensure that customers will not be impacted by Coach USA’s bankruptcy filing and subsequent cease of operations for the affected bus routes. He commended NJ Transit for working with him on this issue and expressed hope for an update for residents soon.

The announcement comes as a response to Coach USA’s July 11th statement, in which the company declared its intention to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and discontinue operations for several bus routes in the area, including routes 2, 84, and 88 in Hudson County.

Residents and commuters in Hudson County are encouraged to stay informed about updates from the County Executive’s office and NJ Transit regarding the future of bus routes 2, 84, and 88.
