The Secaucus Police Department has rolled out a new initiative known as the “Power Shift,” aimed at bolstering its Patrol Division. The strategy, supported by Mayor Gonnelli and the Town Council, focuses on proactive policing during times when crime is more likely to occur.

Officers assigned to the Power Shift overlap the evening and night shifts, allowing for a more concentrated police presence during high-risk hours. The initiative has already led to several arrests, interrupting criminal activities in progress.

One notable case occurred on October 17, when Police Officer Jude Masullo discovered stolen construction vehicles and trailers while patrolling an abandoned area. Another arrest was made on October 24, when Haashim Bee was found in possession of a stolen vehicle.

Chief Dennis Miller expressed his support for the initiative, stating, “Our Command Staff constantly looks at innovative ways to improve our manpower deployment to combat current crime trends, and I wholly support their input.”

Haashim Bee was charged with receiving a stolen vehicle and also had an active warrant for his arrest. After posting bail, he was released pending his court appearance. These charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests are expected.

The Power Shift initiative is proving to be an effective method for the Secaucus Police Department to combat crime and ensure public safety.
