Intoxicated Bayonne Man Threatens Police Officer’s Life After Causing Disturbance at Local Burger King

54-year-old Michael Whittington of Bayonne was arrested with multiple charges including threatening a Police officer while he was arrested.

Whittington was taken into custody at 1144 hours from the area of Burger King (1088 Broadway, Bayonne,NJ). Officers responded there on a report of a male inside of the restaurant causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers observed Whittington leaning over the counter and yelling at the employees. Officers were able to remove Whittington from the restaurant and spoke with him outside. While outside, officers determined Whittington to be intoxicated and ordered him to not reenter the restaurant. Whittington refused to comply and walked away from the officers, reentering the restaurant. As the officer again removed him from the restaurant, Whittington became verbally confrontational with the officer and took a fighting stance. Whittington was then placed under arrest.

During the arrest process, Whittington threatened the life of the officer and was additionally charged. It was also learned that Whittington was wanted on an outstanding warrant issued out of Union City.

He was charged with the following:

  • Terroristic Threats
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Harassment
  • Warrant
