Jersey City NJ.- A 9-1-1 dispatcher from Jersey City has been apprehended on charges of computer crime. Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez disclosed the arrest, which was executed by the Special Investigations Unit on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.

Rose Davis, aged 58 and a resident of Jersey City, faces charges of Computer Criminal Activity, a serious second-degree crime under N.J.S.A. 2C:20-50e. The arrest took place at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus, with Davis being released pending her initial court appearance, scheduled tentatively for December 7, 2023.

The charges stem from an investigation conducted in collaboration with the Jersey City Special Investigations Unit. It was revealed that on July 15, 2023, Davis, in her capacity as a Telecommunications Supervisor, allegedly accessed records and personal identifying information without proper authorization. These records were not meant for her personal keeping.

While these charges are severe, it is crucial to remember that they are only accusations at this stage. As per R.P.C.3.6(b)(6), the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

This incident raises concerns about data security and the safeguarding of personal information in government systems. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has reassured the public that they are taking this matter very seriously and are committed to upholding the law.
