38-Year-Old Jersey City Man Arrested on Multiple Drug Charges Following Gang Task Force Investigation

Gang Task Force narcotics investigation

Hudson County, NJ – A 38-year-old Jersey City resident, Robert Johnson, was arrested by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Gang Task Force on multiple drug charges.

The arrest on Friday, August 18, 2023, comes after a weeks-long narcotics investigation. Johnson faces significant charges, including two counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute within 1,000 Feet of a School and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The latter charge stems from the discovery of two children present in the home during the court-authorized search.

In the early hours of August 18, members of the Gang Task Force, aided by Hudson County Regional SWAT, executed a search warrant at Johnson’s Van Wagenen Avenue residence. The search yielded a substantial amount of suspected cocaine and heroin, in addition to drug paraphernalia.

Johnson’s arrest comes as part of a broader initiative by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office to combat narcotics distribution, especially in proximity to schools and public property. The proximity of the drugs to a school and public property further intensifies the charges against Johnson.

Johnson has been taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility and awaits his first court appearance, set for Wednesday, August 23, 2023.

It is essential to note that the charges against Johnson are only accusations, and he is presumed innocent until proven otherwise.
