Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced that on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested a 47-year-old Jersey City man on charges he sexually assaulted his 9-year old stepdaughter.
The crimes occurred in November of 2021 and March of 2022 inside of a Jersey City residence. The name of the defendant is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim. He is charged with sexual assault, a crime of the second degree, and endangering the welfare of a child, a crime of the second degree.
Suarez says he was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny pending his first court appearance.
The Prosecutor’s Office has filed a detention motion, which is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Prosecutor Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest.
