Jersey City will be the first in the country to implement a brand new method of providing emergency medical care. The idea is modeled after the United Hatzhalah system in Israel, which has been incredibly successful. The system is designed so that when a person is in trouble, a medically trained volunteer who is in the same proximity of the patient will get notified through a cell phone application. The volunteers will be trained by Jersey City Medical Center and will be provided with life- saving tools. The city will be reaching out to find volunteers through local chamber of commerce, community groups, and churches.
