He left the county, left New Jersey and made it all the way to New York State — but Keshawn Sparkman couldn’t escape his deadly actions.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the 20-year-old Jersey City man was arrested by the Massena (upstate NY) Police Department on a warrant.
Sparkman is charged with murdering Rasasim Foster, 28, of Jersey City on July 3, as well as possession of a shotgun for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a shotgun.
He is currently in custody at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility awaiting extradition to Hudson County.
Suarez credited Sparkman’s arrest to Massena Police officers, along with the Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit for helping with the investigation.
At about 10:50 pm on July 3, Jersey City Police were dispatched to the area of 262 Clinton Avenue on a report of possible gunshots. There they found an unresponsive male victim on the ground.
According to the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, Foster had multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should call the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at 201-915-1345.
