Jersey City Unlicensed Man Driving a Stolen Vehicle Arrested in Hoboken with Narcotics After Crashing Into Several Parked Cars

PO Dennis Figueroa Jr was dispatched to the area of 11th and Adams Street on a report of a black Jeep leaving the scene of an accident. Sgt Edward Sellick advised units he was with a vehicle matching the description in the area of 16th Jefferson Street. As Officer Figueroa arrived, he observed the defendant fleeing the scene on foot while Sgt Sellick pursued him. Officer Figueroa joined the pursuit and was able to apprehend the defendant several blocks away. Sgt Sellick suffered a minor leg injury during the pursuit but remained on duty.

A search of the defendant found him to be in possession of a glass pipe commonly used to smoke CDS. After investigating further, it was determined that the vehicle had been stolen several minutes in the past after the victim left the vehicle running while making a delivery. The defendant then crashed into several parked cars after taking the vehicle. He was issued several motor vehicle summonses and processed for the criminal offenses. He was later remanded to the Hudson County Rehabilitation Center.
