Juvenile Charged With Murder in Connection to Shooting Death of Jersey City Teenager

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced on Thursday morning that a 17-year-old has been charged in connection with the death of 15-year old Devin Bryant who was fatally shot in Jersey City on Saturday, February 12, 2022.

The teenager was arrested by members of the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force with the assistance of the New York City Police Department and the New York City Sheriff’s Office on Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens, on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.

He is charged as a juvenile with murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.  He is currently in custody in New York pending extradition and his first court appearance.  Juvenile matters are confidential and no additional information can be released at this time.

According to Prosecutor Suarez, on Saturday, February 12, 2022, shortly after 8:20 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of 112 Myrtle Avenue on a report of shots fired. Responding officers found a male victim, later identified as Devin Bryant, 15, of Jersey City, with an apparent gunshot wound to the torso. He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:10 p.m.

The above charges are merely accusations and the juvenile is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
