Letter to the Editor by Hudson County Freeholder Jose Munoz

West New York Residents, “If I didn’t see it for myself, I would never have believed it!” If you thought the decisions and actions of West New York’s tyrannical government (Roque the puppeteer) couldn’t get any worse you’re wrong! At Wednesday night’s School Board meeting the loyal Roque appointees (Roque’s puppets) to the Board of Education voted to totally disrespect the mandate of the people of this city by voting NOT to officially approve the change from an appointed Board of Education to an Elected Board of Education, which would officially begin the process we voted on by referendum. This, only days after the concerned voter’s landslide victory vote to overturn the present way Board of Education members are selected to serve as your representatives within the city’s educational community. This vote by the puppets confirms what we the residents already know – these individuals are there for themselves and to protect the master puppeteer at all costs.

And, to make the decisions and actions of these puppets even worse, the School Board voted to hire a fellow Board of Education member’s sister. This Board of Education member is none other than Silvio Acosta who as we all know is perhaps the puppeteer’s closest and most loyal friend not to mention Roque’s Deputy Mayor and Confidential Aide. Will this nonsense never end?

On Nov. 5, “We the people” have spoken. Our message offering a better future for our children was very clear and now goes unheard. As residents of West New York, we have come together for a common cause – our children, their future, and a better West New York. We cannot allow this dark shadow that already exists over our city to spread and diminish the light of a brighter future for our children. We need to end this tyrannical movement once and for all. Please, stand with me and so many other concerned citizens living in West New York and coming from different ethnic backgrounds and political affiliations to defeat this very threat to our children’s future and the prosperity of our city by speaking out and contacting Governor Chris Christie, State Attorney General John Jay Hoffman, U.S Attorney General Paul J. Fishman, the Hudson County Superintendent, State Department of Education, State Ethics Commission, NJ State Commission of Investigation, NJ State Office of Fiscal Accountability and Compliance, and any other agency you believe that can help our children attain their dreams. To clean this dirty laundry, we must seek out other cleaners.

Thank you.

Jose C. Munoz
Hudson County Freeholder Jose C. Munoz 7th Freeholder District.

    1. Roque say hello to your replacement! Jose Munoz will be the next Mayor of West New York! Bye Bye Roque. Now you will have more time to double bill everyone’s medical insurance.

    2. Funny how this guy targeted Roque, yet did not capture his North Bergen mentors on the wire tap..I wonder why only a wire tap in West New York and not in North Bergen…after all he does want to end corruption, correct? Also wondering who is behind his writing????

    3. How can this happen? By what authority can the school board vote to not implement the vote of the people? What is the point of having a referendum? This needs to be addressed at the Commissioners Meeting on Monday, Nov. 18th. I hope a lot of people will attend and speak out. Does anyone know what provision of law gives the School Board the right to override the vote of the people? Is there such a provision or did they just take it upon themselves? This is an outrage.

    4. From Munoz’s letter:
“At Wednesday night’s School Board meeting the loyal Roque appointees (Roque’s puppets) to the Board of Education voted to totally disrespect the mandate of the people of this city by voting NOT to officially approve the change from an appointed Board of Education to an Elected Board of Education, which would officially begin the process we voted on by referendum.”

From an article in the Jersey Journal:
“The West New York Board of Education discussed transitioning to an elected board as per the referendum passed in the recent election but opted not to put the matter on the agenda at last night’s board meeting.

“They are sending a clear message that they do not agree with what the voters have decided,” said Freeholder Jose Munoz, who represents West New York. “The item was pulled from the agenda.” ….

(Schools Superintendent) Fauta said the matter of reorganizing the board will take some consideration and will likely be on the agenda at the next board meeting scheduled for Dec. 11. ”

Munoz’s letter is inconsistent with the report of the Jersey Journal, and creates the misleading impression that the school board somehow voted against ever implementing the change, when, in reality, they tabled the issue until the next meeting.

I am in no way defending the school board, as I am totally opposed to the corrupt administration in this town, and everyone who supports it, including the school board. They are all despicable, and in putting the matter over to the next meeting, the school board apparently violated State law, which, according to Munoz, as reported in the Jersey Journal, requires that the reorganization be dealt with at the first meeting following the vote.

But Munoz should have said as much in his letter to the Editor and the Residents of West New York, instead of making inaccurate statements that cause confusion and mislead people. The truth of what goes on in this town is bad enough; there’s no need to distort it. Doesn’t anyone in this town government have any credibility?

We really don’t need to fight one liar with another.
