An arrest has been made in connection to a hit-and-run accident in North Bergen three weeks ago. According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, members of the Hudson County Regional Collision Unit arrested a Lyndhurst man on Thursday, June 26th for his role in a hit-and-run that occurred in North Bergen on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
77-year old Miroslaw Masiak has been charged with Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Collision Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, a crime of the third degree; Endangering an Injured Victim, a crime of the third degree; and Obstructing Administration of Law, a crime of the fourth degree.
Masiak was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and released pending his first court appearance which, is tentatively scheduled for July 17, 2025.
According to a press release from the Prosecutor’s Office, “Shortly before 5 a.m. on June 4, 2025, the North Bergen Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of 2600 Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen. Responding officers located a male victim — later identified as a 42-year-old Union City resident — with serious injuries. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene. The victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center. During the initial investigation, the vehicle believed to have been involved in the collision was recovered.”
Prosecutor Suarez credits the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department with the investigation and arrest.
The charges against Masiak are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
