At approximately 11:56 A.M., on Friday, July 5, 2019, Secaucus Police responded to Buchmuller Park, Plaza Centre Rd., on reports of a male within the park committing lewd acts. After a park attendant went to approach this male, he fled prior to police arrival. Physical evidence was recovered from the scene and the male and his vehicle were caught on video surveillance.
An extensive follow up investigation commenced, which led to the identification of this male. On July 12, 2019 at 1230 hrs, Rizwan Ashraf, 35 of North Brunswick was arrested in the area of 700 Plaza Drive, Secaucus, NJ. At the time of his arrest, the suspect’s vehicle was also seized.
Rizwan Ashraf was charged with Sexual Assault [2C:14-2b], Criminal Sexual Contact [2C:14-3b], Lewdness [2C:14-4b(1)] and Endangering the Welfare of a Child [2C:24-4]. Rizwan Ashraf was taken to the Hudson County Jail in Kearny, NJ pending his appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court.
