Man facing shoplifting and bail jumping charges, caught stuffing shrimp in his coat at Shop Rite in Hoboken

HOBOKEN – A Jersey City man is facing shoplifting and bail jumping charges after he was caught stuffing shrimp in his coat at the Shop Rite in Hoboken.
On March 2nd at around 2:30 p.m. Officers Montanez and DeTrizio were dispatched to ShopRite at 900 Madison St. on report of a shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival the officers met with a loss prevention officer who told police that he observed a man conceal three bags of shrimp in his coat, valued at $67.94. The man then attempted to leave the store without paying and loss prevention was able to detain the man without further incident.
Damian Clifford, 36 of Jersey City, was arrested for shoplifting. Police also discovered that he had an outstanding warrant out of Hoboken for the offense of possessing an open container of alcohol in public. Clifford was transported to Hudson county Correctional Facility.
