As off-duty West New York Det. Montano parked his car he observed Felix Dilone, of Hoboken, riding a red mountain bike in the parking garage of 28th Avenue, Port Imperial.
The 25-year-old left the building through the side exit when he noticed the officer, with Montano in pursuit due to a possible burglary.
Weehawken Police Officers Abdelaziz and Amato stopped Dilone on Port Imperial Boulevard as he travelled southbound on the bicycle.
The officers checked the garage for damage and found the side exit door damaged and a bike rack cable lock cut.
Dilone was transported to WNY Police headquarters, where red pliers and a Schwinn handle bar flashlight were found on him, and entered into evidence.
He was charged with being in possession of burglarly tools and later released on a summons.
Detectives will follow up with Port Imperial Property Management to find the owner of the missing red Schwinn mountain bike, serial #SNMHG14B14887.
