23-year-old Derrick DellaCruz has been arrested after stabbing another man with a kitchen knife, Hoboken Police says.

On Tuesday September 13th, Officers were dispatched to the area of 311-321 Harrison St on a report of a male stabbing another male with a knife. Officers and Detectives arrived in the area to find blood on the scene but no victim or defendant. Officers were able to identify the victim and found him inside his apartment bleeding from the wound. The victim was able to tell the officers the defendant stabbed him with a kitchen knife. The victim had a puncture wound to his chest, in the upper left area near his heart, and a puncture wound to his left arm along with a large deep laceration. He was transported to Hoboken University Medical Center and later to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment. The incident began over an argument over family matters. The defendant went to retrieve a knife and returned to the victim and began to stab him. After several minutes, the defendant fled the scene with the knife still in hand.

While the Detectives continued to investigate the incident and the whereabouts of the suspect, it was determined that he was taking refuge inside an apartment in the Housing Authority. Detectives Collins and Quinones arrived at the apartment. As the Detectives spoke with the tenant, they observed the defendant inside. They entered the apartment and he was placed under arrest. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed and charged with the above crimes.
Derrick DellaCruz faces the following charges: Criminal Attempt Murder, Hindering, Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, Failure to Appear open warrants from Hoboken
