Man wanted on Burglary charges in Michigan and Pennsylvania arrested after being caught burglarizing several vehicles in Bayonne

On December 26, 2017 at approximately 3:42 a.m., Bayonne Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Newman Avenue and West 7th Street on the report of a burglary to a vehicle in progress.  Upon arrival in the area, officers observed a male seated in the front passenger seat of a white BMW sedan.  The male seated in the vehicle, later identified as Miguel A. Sanchez Jr.(47), appeared to be rummaging through the personal items in the vehicle.  The officers approached Sanchez and asked if that was his vehicle to which he responded, “no”.  Sanchez then attempted to flee, but was quickly apprehended.   Subsequent investigation by officers on the scene revealed that an additional four vehicles were entered by Sanchez, for a total of five vehicles.  Sanchez entered all of the vehicles through unlocked passenger side doors.  Sanchez was found to be in possession of numerous items that were taken from several of the vehicles.

Sanchez was charged with the following:

Burglary (5 counts)

Theft (2 counts)

Obstructing a Governmental Function (1 count)

Sanchez was additionally charged with three counts of being a Fugitive from Justice from the following jurisdictions:

  1. Detroit, Michigan for Breaking and Entering an Occupied Dwelling
  2. Reading, Pennsylvania for Burglary
  3. Lebanon, Pennsylvania for Failure to Appear on a Burglary charge

Sanchez also had two warrants out of the City of Bayonne with a bail totaling $3000/10%.

Sanchez was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
