  1. This is from the judge’s 2009 ruling on Nidia Lopez’s residency: “Whether intentionally or otherwise, Lopez did not pay New Jersey taxes, either personal or business, between 2001-2009. She did not reinstate her corporation in New Jersey after her return in 2001. She did not apply for a New Jersey drivers’ license. She may or may not have voted by absentee ballot in a Florida election after she moved back to New Jersey in 2001. She represented her Florida house to be her permanent home for the purpose of multiple refinancing and to obtain yearly homestead exemptions. None of these actions, whatever the motivation for them, is excused or condoned by this decision.”

    • I’m confused…This is 2013. Has she been a legal NJ resident, voter & tax payer here since 2009?

      • She wasn’t a resident when she got elected in 2009. So, she was first elected in May 2009 but hadn’t paid taxes in NJ, had a NJ driver’s license, etc in NJ for the prior 10 years. She claimed FL for taxes (there is no income tax there). She also said her home in FL was her primary residence to get a better rate on her mortgage refinances over the years. She even voted in FL in by absentee ballot after moving to NJ. The only reason she came clean on any of it was because she got busted.

  2. Um, if this is a newsvideo, why doesn’t it EXPLAIN what the controversy is about in summarized fashion? The flashed newspaper headline provides *some* explanation, but not a very clear one. When did this incident occur? Why was he nude? In what way did he “blame Hispanic girls”? In what way did he “laugh”, as the woman says in the beginning of her speech?

  3. Um, if this is a news site, why doesn’t this page EXPLAIN what the controversy is about in a summarized, explanatory fashion? Why rely entirely and so lazily on an embedded YouTube video? The flashed newspaper headline provides *some* explanation, but not a very clear one.
