Mayor Jimmy Davis expands Scholarship Opportunity for High School Juniors and Seniors

Jimmy Davis officially takes over as Bayonne Mayor

(BAYONNE, NJ) – Earlier in the week Mayor Jimmy Davis announced the City of Bayonne’s participation in the Louis Bay 2nd Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship opportunity for local high school Juniors and Seniors.

Provided through a partnership between the City and the New Jersey State League of Municipalities, High School Juniors and Seniors from Bayonne are eligible for this scholarship opportunity. The end result of the contest will result in three $1000.00 scholarship awards statewide. Those who enter will center on this year’s theme, “What My Municipal Government Does Best.”

On the heels of announcing the distribution of the contest guides to Bayonne High School and Marist High School, Mayor Davis announced he is further disseminating the information due to the amount of inquiries. “There has been a lot of voiced interest in this opportunity, and I want to make sure as many of our students know about it as possible,” the Mayor said.

The Mayor’s Office sent information to Saint Peter’s Prep, St. Dominic’s Academy, and Hudson Catholic High School stressing that all High School Juniors and Seniors from Bayonne are eligible. Local submissions are due to the Mayor’s Office by March 10, 2015. A winning entry will be established by April 2, 2015 and forwarded to the statewide judging committee as the representative semi-finalist. The final announcement of finalists and winners will be on or about May 5, 2015.
