Former North Bergen High School graduates who served on 9/11 will be recognized
NORTH BERGEN, NJ — The Township of North Bergen will be holding a September 11 Memorial Ceremony at 10:00am at James J. Braddock Park in the Veteran’s Memorial Area, 90th Street and Bergenline Ave.
“This ceremony is to honor the innocent people, police officers and firefighters that we lost during the tragic terrorist attack in 2001,” said Mayor Nicholas Sacco. “This is a moment to bring the residents of our community together and be grateful for what we have in life.”
Hudson County Freeholder Chairman Anthony Vainieri will be the Master of Ceremony at the event. The Presentation of Colors will be held by the North Bergen Police Honor Guard and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Honor Guard.
“It is unfortunate that we are coming together as a town over something horribly tragic that scarred us as a nation,” said Freeholder Vainieri. “But being able to honor and remember the brave people that lost their lives is important. We will also be remembering the five North Bergen High School graduates who sacrificed their lives as officers on 9/11.”
