(UNION CITY, NJ) – Mayor Brian P. Stack and the Board of Commissioners in conjunction with the Union City Board of Education are hosting two (2) Information Seminars for Undocumented Residents.
On March 1st at St. Anthony of Padua Church (615 8th Street) and
on March 2nd” at the North Hudson Islamic Center (4613 Cottage Place) at 6:30 PM.
“Union City is a place of inclusion. Our immigrant community adds both an economic and cultural benefit that makes Union City so great,” Mayor Brian P. Stack stated. “In light of recent events, we wanted to offer a seminar for undocumented residents to assist them in knowing their rights and to identify a potential path for citizenship,” said Stack.
The seminars will include speakers who are experts on immigration rights and laws and will provide residents an opportunity to ask questions on a one-on-one basis regarding their specific circumstances. Mayor Stack encourages both undocumented and documented residents to attend the seminars to support all members of the community.
“Undocumented residents are our neighbors, our friends and our family. They are part of the fabric of the community and we will continue to stand united and support each other and continue to make Union City great,” stated Mayor Brian P. Stack.
The seminars will discuss current events and laws regarding immigration as well as the new Union City Municipal Identification Card Program. “I am hopeful that the new identification card program will prove to be a benefit to all residents,” said Stack. “All residents are welcome to apply to obtain an identification card on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4 — 7 PM in the City Clerk’s Office starting on March ft”
All members of the community are encouraged to attend these informational seminars regardless of citizenship status.
