Memorial HS Softball Pitcher Sets Career Strikeout Record

It was cold on Wednesday morning at West New York’s Coviello Field, but that didn’t stop the Memorial High School softball team from setting a school record.

No, it wasn’t the fact that the Tigers defeated Dickinson High School in a mercy-shortened, 4 inning, 17-0 game.  No, it wasn’t the fact that the game was a no-hitter, although that was pretty exciting.  It was the fact that senior Jaileen Infante, who tossed the no-hitter, did so by getting all twelve outs via the strikeout, and that gave her 412 career punch outs, which set Memorial High School’s all-time record.

Infante passed former Tiger pitcher Roxanna Gonzalez on the school’s career strikeout leader board.

Congratulations to Jaileen, the entire Tiger squad and head coach Dominique Ocello.
