The former site of the ACME supermarket at Weehawken’s Tower Plaza Mall will become the newest location for a coronavirus testing center. The testing center will be located in the parking lot at 4100 Park Avenue.
The location will open at 9 o’clock on Monday morning, May 11. It will only be for Weehawken and Union City residents.
Testing will be available by appointment only for any resident of either municipality. The test that will be administered will be a nasal swab, which will tell the person if they have an active coronavirus infection.
Appointments will be available Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
If you wish to register for an appointment online, visit NHNJ.US, or call (201) 773-7630 if you live in Weehawken. Union City residents should call (201) 537-5704.
You must bring proof of residency with you. If you have medical insurance, bring your insurance card as well. The test is free to anyone who does not have medical insurance.
Masks must be worn while you wait for the test to be administered.
This new testing center will have both walk-up and drive-thru services. Results will be available within 2 to 5 days.
Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner stated in a letter to residents, “We hope to be able to offer antibody testing at this site in the next several weeks when those test kits become more accurate and readily available.”
