Newark Woman Dies from Blunt Force Trauma; Essex County Sheriff Crime Stoppers Offers $10K Reward

Newark – Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura’s Crime Stoppers Program is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for the death of Nellie Marquez, 55, of Newark.

On July 14, Ms. Marquez was found unresponsive in her apartment located at 130 Dayton Street suffering from blunt force trauma. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ms. Marquez lived in a senior apartment complex and was known as a model tenant. She was a part of the tenant association and respected by her neighbors, according the detectives handling the investigation.
