NJ Transit will be receiving $1.48 billion in CARES Act funding to assist them in their continued operations. President Donald Trump made the announcement earlier today saying, “…and to keep people moving in the NY/NJ area!”
This is the largest single, federal transit grant NJ Transit has ever received.
Needless to say, Governor Phil Murphy was ecstatic with the news saying, “Just received a call from President Trump, who informed me about this critical federal support. This funding will keep our trains and buses running and continue the improvements we’ve made to NJ Transit. Thank you, Mr. President.”
