US News & World Report today released its 36th annual ranking of the top hospitals in the United States.  It ranked 4,440 medical institutions across 30 different medical specialties, including surgeries.  No Hudson County hospitals are listed among the top ten hospitals in New Jersey according to the report.

The top ranked hospital in the Garden State, according to the report, is Hackensack University Medical Center, part of Hackensack Meridian Health, with Morristown Medical Center, part of the Atlantic Health System coming in second.

According to a press release, Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News & World Report, stated, “For most Americans, health care decisions are made close to home. The Best Regional Hospitals rankings underscore the difference high-performing local medical centers make.  These local hospital rankings, entirely performance-driven, equip individuals and their families, in consultation with their medical providers, to choose the highest quality care available in their own communities.”

The only hospital in New Jersey listed in the report among 20 hospitals across 13 states to be part of the magazine’s Honor Roll is Hackensack University Medical Center.

The only other hospitals close to Hudson County listed among New Jersey’s top performing medical institutions were Valley Hospital and Englewood Hospital, both in Bergen County.
