The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has announced that 27-year old North Bergen Police Officer Rasheed Siyam has been charged with Theft by Deception (False Impression), a crime of the third degree.
According to Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, Siyam was arrested by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Internal Affairs Unit on Monday, September 15, 2025 following a theft investigation.
He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City and released pending his first court appearance, which is tentatively scheduled for Monday, September 29, 2025.
Mello says the investigation found that on various dates between November 2024 and May 2025, Siyam returned to his home while on duty for extended periods of time. He remained home over 130 hours beyond department approved meal breaks.
The above charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
