Being remembered on Veterans Day is a proud experience for Army Staff Sgt. Kevin Rodriguez.
“I’ve served with all these guys that are with me right now today and I haven’t seen a lot of these guys in over 10 years – but I’m very honored and humbled,” Rodriguez says.
Army Major John Rodriguez led a team of medics on the front lines during the war and being reunited with them is coming home to family.
“I’m so proud to be part of them and we’re just proud to be here and today I think it’s one of the best days of our lives,” Rodriguez says. “This makes it a 10-year anniversary for all of us from being in Iraq.”
The mayor says the reason we are a free nation is because of our veterans.
“So many of ‘em here were in World War II and in later wars, and I’ve noticed today we have a group of younger men and women who fought more recently in the Gulf area,” says Nicholas Sacco.
“So this is important; their sacrifices shouldn’t be forgotten. In North Bergen we are certainly here to honor them to make certain that they realize how much they’re appreciated.”
