The festive sounds of carolers in a picturesque scene for the holidays that included Santa Claus, set the stage for this year‘s annual tree lighting ceremony in Hudson County’s Braddock Park. This was the second year that Mayor Nicholas Sacco and North Bergen‘s Board of Commissioners, along with County Executive Thomas DeGise and Freeholder Anthony Vainieri sponsored the event.

‘Three, two, one’—those were the words that kicked off the holiday season and transformed a 22-foot tree that was planted last autumn, then adorned with thousands of lights, into a centerpiece in the park where the community can gather.

With the warmth of hot chocolate that masked the frigid temperatures of the evening, families enjoyed the camaraderie of neighbors as they likely reminisced on personal holiday traditions they will prepare to unveil in the days to come.
