North Bergen Man Arrested After Several Hoboken Burglaries And Thefts

HOBOKEN – An attempted shoplifting incident at Shop Rite lead police to the arrest of a North Bergen man responsible for 1 shoplifting and 2 burglary and theft incidents that occurred last month in Hoboken, officials said.

On February 11, 2015 at around 4:15p.m., police responded to report of a man shoplifting from Shop Rite on Madison St. in Hoboken.

Officer Cruzado arrested Edgar Pizzaro, 27, of North Bergen, for shoplifting two bottles of Absolut Vodka and this wasn’t his first time stealing alcohol from a Hoboken store, officials said.
After he was placed under arrest, it was determined that Pizzaro had a warrant out for his arrest for an incident that occured on February 5, 2015, where he was caught stealing 9 bottles of Grey Goose Vodka, valued at $400, but was able to escape detection.

Pizzaro was also the prime suspect in burglaries and thefts that occurred on January 9th and January 16th in Hoboken. Pizzaro confessed to these burglaries during an interview with Detectives Gonzalez and Gomez, officials said.

The Hoboken Police Detective Bureau is still investigating the burglaries, particularly trying to retrieve the stolen property so that it can be returned to the victims.
