33-year old Oscar Ramirez was sentenced on Friday, June 27, 2025, by the Honorable Mitzy Galis-Menendez to 24 years in New Jersey State Prison for a kidnapping and sexual assault that took place in North Bergen in 2019.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, Ramirez had previously pled guilty to one count of kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault. Ramirez was sentenced to 24 years in New Jersey State Prison for the kidnapping charge, which will run concurrent to an 18 year sentence for the aggravated sexual assault charge. His sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act, Megan’s Law Registration, and Parole Supervision for Life.
A press release from the Prosecutor’s Office states, “On October 26, 2019, a 23-year-old female victim was approached by an unknown male – later identified as Ramirez – while walking on 46th Street in North Bergen. Ramirez grabbed the female victim from behind, threatened her with a sharp object, and then sexually assaulted her at the Grove Church Cemetery in North Bergen.
