North Bergen opens brand new 76th st baseball field

It’s baseball season in North Bergen and what better way to kick it off than with the grand opening of a brand new field.

On Saturday April 14th, hundreds came out for the Inauguration for the North Bergen baseball complex and the weather was so ideal for such an event. The idea for the new field came about last year and after six months of planning, one year of building and $1.7 million in grants the field has finally opened its doors to the public.

Mayor Sacco along with the commissioners and coaches who all made this possible, proudly gave their speeches on how happy they were that this new field has opened. They were also very excited to inform us all that a new girl’s softball field will be opening next year at the start of the season and will be located on 64th street.

The first game to kick off this season will be on Monday and all are welcome to come out and support. Also on Thursday April 19th, the North Bergen Police Department will be playing in a charity basketball game against the criminal justice students and the staff and faculty of The Hudson County community college to to benefit NJ Special Olympics.
