They’re one of the first Hudson County towns to join a county registry program of foreclosed and vacant properties.
There are roughly 106 abandoned/foreclosed homes in North Bergen, up from 49 in 2016.
According to Sen. and Mayor Nicholas Sacco, it was six years in the making to bring this program to fruition.
“We had to find a way to make things better and we did, by working with Hudson County,” Sacco says. “So we can clear up the housing stock to make it stronger and more attractive.”
Improving property values and quality of life in North Bergen is a good thing.
“From the county’s perspective, we’ll really reach out to the homeowners who are in foreclosure and and offer any available resources that we can to prevent foreclosure if possible,” says Randi Moore, division chief for the Hudson County Division of Housing and Community Development.
