North Bergen and Weehawken voters get to pick three candidates each for their towns’ school boards at elections held on April 25th.
The three incumbent candidates in Weehawken face no opposition on the ballot, but in North Bergen, a total of 17 candidates are competing for three unpaid school board seats.
Of the 17, 14 are registered Democrats, two are unaffilated with any party and one, Zeneida Larios, is a Republican. None are employees of the township or of the school system, according to the latest available public data.
Almost all of the candidates are from the Woodcliff section of the township nearest North Hudson Park.
North Bergen’s candidates tend to be older than most parents of students. Only four of the 17 are under age 40, but seven are older than 56.
