North Bergen’s Annual Pool Party Goes Wild West

NORTH BERGEN, NJ – On August 23, North Bergen residents gathered in large numbers to bid farewell to summer at the township’s annual pool party. This year, the event took a Wild West turn, attracting approximately 1,800 attendees.

The poolside was transformed with themed decorations, costumes, and games. Activities included free pony rides, a petting zoo, mechanical bull riding, a water gun shooting gallery, a casino, a bounce house, a trackless train ride, and even giant dancing robots. The atmosphere was further enlivened by Houston Bernard and his band, who delivered a lively set of country and rock classics.

Mayor Nicholas Sacco commented on the event’s significance, “Our annual pool party is always one of the highlights of the summer in North Bergen. It offers a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our community and to bring everyone together before the start of the school year. We’re fortunate to have Houston Bernard and the local restaurants contribute to the success of this year’s pool party.”

The event also showcased North Bergen’s local food culture. Among the local vendors were Tio Rozay’s BBQ and The Corn Guys. Other contributors included Boulevard Diner, Cuomo & Son’s Deli, GP’s Restaurant, Hudson Bread, Pat La Frieda Meat Purveyors, Rancho Mateo, Rumba Cubana, Sabor, Tapas de Espana, Trattoria La Sorrentina, and Waterside Restaurant.

Commissioner Hugo Cabrera added, “It’s events like these that highlight the spirit of North Bergen. Seeing families come out to swim, eat, play games, and interact with their neighbors is always a positive sight.”
