With little more than seven months remaining in her New Jersey Legislative career, outgoing 33rd District Assemblywoman Annette Chaparro of Hoboken has been selected by Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin to chair the Assembly’s Tourism, Gaming and Arts Committee. Chaparro replaces Chairman Ralph Caputo (D-Nutley) who resigned from the Legislature in March to become a member of the Board of Directors of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.
Assemblywoman Chaparro has been the Vice Chair of the committee.
Coughlin will name a new Chairperson of the committee in January, assuming Democrats retain control of the Assembly. Chaparro’s term ends in January. The Hudson County Democratic Organization decided not to endorse her for a fifth term, selecting attorney John Allen instead.
Allen was the hand picked choice of Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla. Hoboken will become a member of the 32nd legislative district come January.
