Port Authority Police bust Sparta man at Newark Airport trying to carry loaded gun past security

Port Authority Police arrest a Sparta man Saturday at Newark Airport after security screeners viewing an x-ray detect a loaded pistol in the 57-year-old’s carry-on bag.

Officers at Terminal C searched the bag and recovered a black ‘Kahr CM9 pistol.

It was loaded with five jacketed hollow-point bullets and one was in the chamber. Six others were recovered.

Voight Kempson was charged with possession of armor piercing bullets and unlawful possession of a weapon.
