Crowds turned out in Guttenberg on the first Saturday of the month to celebrate the town’s German roots.
Guttoberfest, as its called, got underway on October 5 at noon at 70th Street and Boulevard East, with festivities ranging from Polka music to some very traditional and tasty German eats.
Officials started the festive event in 2018. Last year’s weather didn’t cooperate, but this year it was a beautiful day. Many sat at tables with friends as they listened to Rolf’s Polka Band. Others enjoyed some adult beverages and took in the beautiful views.
Mayor Wayne Zitt and other officials were on hand for the event. The mayor says the event is growing in popularity and he hopes to attract even more people next year.
