Secaucus Man Fled Motor Vehicle Stop

JERSEY CITY – A Secaucus man was arrested Friday after speeding away from cops resulting in a short pursuit on County Ave., officials said.

John Obregon, 24, of Secaucus was arrested after sending cops on a chase while carrying a prescription pill bottle bearing someone else’s name.

At around 7:30 p.m. Sgt. Crecco of Jersey City was patrolling the area of Tonello Ave. near County Ave. where he observed a black four door BMW speeding and weaving in and out of traffic. The BMW turned onto County Ave. and stopped at a red light. Sgt. Crecco activated his lights and siren for a motor vehicle stop but the driver immediately accelerated toward oncoming traffic, passing several cars, officials said. The driver eventually stopped at the truck entrance of the USPS Mail Facility, where he complied with Sgt. Crecco’s orders and was searched and arrested.

Recovered from the search was a prescription drug bottle bearing someone else’s name and containing 47 Alprazolam Pills, a generic for Xanax. Oregon was processed under summons. Additionally, he was issued a motor vehicle summons for improper passing, careless driving, and reckless driving.
