Secaucus Police Department Dismantles a Marijuana Growing Operation and Seizes Numerous Firearms, including an Assault Firearm

On Saturday June 25, 2016 members of the Secaucus Police Department conducted a  search of 1701 Harmon Cove Towers and dismantled a sophisticated marijuana growing operation where a cache of firearms including an “Assault Firearm” were seized. As a result of this search, Adrian C. Taylor II, 36 and Ravenojoy Leigertwood, 36, both of Secaucus were arrested.

During a search of the residence over thirty (30) suspected marijuana plants, which were being grown hydroponically were seized within the residence.  One bedroom of the unit was turned into a growing room where the suspected marijuana plants where brought through the various stages of the growing process for cultivation. 

During a further search of the residence numerous loaded handguns, were also seized.  One handgun was defaced and another was a MAC 11 9mm “Assault Firearm.”  The handguns consisted of the following:  Ruger .40 caliber defaced handgun, MP .25 caliber handgun, Two (2) Bersa .380 caliber handguns, Glock 17 9mm handgun, Stallard Arms 9mm handgun, Lorcin .380 caliber handgun.      

“The safety of the residents of Secaucus and diligent follow up to complaints received are a priority for the Secaucus Police Department. We will continue to investigate and inhibit any drug distribution operation within the town,” Chief Flaherty said.

Adrian C. Taylor II and Ravenojoy Leigertwood both have been charged with numerous drug and weapons offenses, most notably, Maintaining a CDS Production Facility, Possession with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Firearms while Committing a CDS Offense, Possession of an Assault Firearm, Possession of a Defaced Firearm.  Additionally, both were charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, since the loaded handguns and the marijuana grow were accessible to a child. Bail is currently under review by Superior Court, Hudson County Vicinage.
