Shooter From Monday’s Hoboken Incident Near Mama Johnson Field Arrested

An arrest has been made in the shooting incident which took place on Monday, June 6 near 4th and Jackson Streets in Hoboken.  According to Detective Lieutenant Danilo Cabrera of the Hoboken Police Department, 19-year old, Hoboken resident Halim A. Gilyard was arrested in a residential apartment at 4th and Adams Streets at 2:30 this morning, Friday, June 10.

Cabrera says detectives from the Hoboken Police Department, along with members of the Hudson County SWAT Team, executed a search warrant, as well as an arrest warrant, for Gilyard.

Halim was wanted for the shooting incident near Mama Johnson Field on Monday.  Through the investigation, led by Detective John Quinones and assisted by other members of the Detective Bureau, officials were able to identify Gilyard as one of the shooters from that night.  Gilyard was taken into custody without incident. Gilyard was transported to police headquarters where he was processed on all above listed charges. Gilyard was then transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny. 

Cabrera expressed thanks the Hudson County SWAT Team and the Hudson County Prosecutors Office for their assistance.

Halim faces charges of criminal attempt (murder), possession of weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and causing or risking widespread injury.

Defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
